Pet Sematary – Stephen King

Pet SemataryPet Sematary by Stephen King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**If you haven’t read this book and love supernatural, dark, twisted novels, THIS IS FOR YOU.**

To be completely honest i had no idea what i was in for before reading this, It was a birthday present from my friend, and fellow Goodreads reviewer Casey. I hadn’t watched the movie, read the book, or any stephen king novels in fact.
I now get why Stephen King is well known as he is, and why his published novels are deemed truly terrifying and dark. I won’t give too much away, and anything I do believe me there’s more to the story than i’ve written.

Meeting your average normal family, The Creeds (Louise, Racheal, Ellie and Gage) who have recently moved to Ludlow, and living near Pet Sematary.
Not having a father figure growing up when Louise meets Jud Crandall and his wife Norma, who takes the Creeds up for a walk to Pet Sematary. He warns them beforehand about the animals who had died on the road hence why Pet Sematary existed so kids had somewhere to bury the animals the road had taken. We find out that Rachel’s past troubles her , and therefore cannot handle death or explain it to her children.
As children do, Ellie begins to fear the death of her cat Church, scared he too will be a victim of the road, as a precaution the Creeds decide to get the cat fixed.

Louise learns the secrets of Pet Sematary, and for the love of his daughter does the unthinkable.
When Ellie returns she notices her Church is different, he smells, he’s awkward, he doesn’t purr, and to Louise surprise both Ellie and Rachel began to dislike the cat without even realizing it.

After a death of a patient, Louise starts having nightmares. Almost realistic nightmares, where he feels things, see things , knows logic.. and wakes up, sheets covered in dirt?
But Louise keeps his secrets.

From here we are taken on a whirlwind ride through the novel, the description, the thought and emotion behind this book left me wanting more and more. We are surprised , devastated, guttered. I think i actually felt my heart drop in certain parts from all the Creeds.
Although there is a lot of emotion there is an astonishing amount of darkness throughout the book as well. There’s talk of a supernatural power, creatures in the night, ghosts.

After reading this im personally going to track down all stephen king’s books , and read them asap. I’m addicted, I want to wander further into Stephen King’s mind, it was THAT GOOD.
